Through the Eyes of Hurricanes (2022) was inspired by the several hurricanes I encountered during my studies in Texas and Florida. Before then, I have never experienced such monumental forces of nature. Hurricanes snapped and bent enormous tree trunks like bamboo sticks.

The downpour collided with blasts of wind like ocean waves crashing into cliffs. The juxtaposition of heavy rain, howling winds, and moments of clouded serenity and silence reminded me of countless beautiful and tumultuous memories.

I composed the tremolo introduction in March 2020, when Covid-19 plunged the planet into uncertainty. However, I only began to develop and work on the piece a year later, after I had finally started to settle in Montreal. This piece reminds me that the most challenging, demanding moments and events truly make us appreciate the most unforgettable memories and meaningful parts of our lives. There can't be light without darkness; up without down.
